A Beginniners Guide to Java Integration in Coldfusion
Coldfusion is a java application, running on a J2EE platform, and
developers can take advantage of this by extending their applications
with core java functionality and third-party java classes. The purpose
of this session will be to show how this is done, and to provide some
examples for the Coldfusion newbie. Previous experience with Java is
not required.

Doug Hughes is presenting Using Ant to Deploy Coldfusion Applications and you can watch and learn for free at the CFinNC conference!

Using Ant to Deploy ColdFusion Applications
Ant is a fantastic tool for deploying applications. It's widely used in
the Java world, but is under utilized by ColdFusion developers. What
can it do? Pretty much all the tedious steps you currently do when manually deploying applications!
In this presentation I'll give an overview of Ant's capabilities and limitations. I'll also
demonstrate CFAnt, an open source and extensible suite of Ant tasks that
implement all of the features of the ColdFusion admin API!

Scott Boggs is presenting Tour Bus Through Flatland: Visual Design Principles for Websites and Systems and you can watch and learn for free at the CFinNC conference!
Tour Bus Through Flatland: Visual Design Principles for Websites and Systems
Computer screens are flat. When building interfaces we create illusions of navigable spaces. Design principles can help us to best "guide" users through flatland. This presentation explains principles of effective visual design and how they can be used in websites and applications. Applying concepts like balance, color theory, grouping, white-space, and visual hierarchy to interface designs can make good systems into great ones and increase users' satisfaction and success.
About Scott Boggs
Scott Boggs is a Senior Web Designer at RTI International specializing in visual design, front end code, and user experience. He is equally inspired by painters like Paul Cézanne and Richard Diebenkorn as by Information Design pioneers like Edward Tufte (who coined the term “Flatland”). He holds a science degree from University of Michigan and an art degree from North Carolina Central University. Before working as a designer, he was a social worker and a guitar teacher.
