Tour Bus Through Flatland: Visual Design Principles for Websites and Systems
Computer screens are flat. When building interfaces we create illusions of navigable spaces. Design principles can help us to best "guide" users through flatland. This presentation explains principles of effective visual design and how they can be used in websites and applications. Applying concepts like balance, color theory, grouping, white-space, and visual hierarchy to interface designs can make good systems into great ones and increase users' satisfaction and success.
